In the 1950s the Viennese goldsmith Alois Jehlicka designed this gold gemset brooch, a lapidary blue daisy with dyed chalcedony and nephrite jade.
Daisies symbolize innocence and purity and blue stands traditionally for loyalty. In Norse mythology, the daisy is Freya’s sacred flower. Freya is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, and as such the daisy came by symbolizing motherhood and new beginnings.
